You dare ! Always kinda funny when surfing on forums here or there to see how many autoproclamed music lovers may stay focussed on the same kinda topic, as if nothing was to be discovered anywhere else !!! Is it to say that music is a religion ? One could well agree at the end of the day judging by the responses but also the behaviour of some of us. This said, hearing this in the mouth of someone who happens to make music is a thing, meanwhile from the fans being another that might well be compared to some denomination membership and all the things that such a situation suggests ; the first of which resulting in a sort of sectarism itself derivated from mind narrowness. So question : could it be that we've re that self limited at the end of the day ?
What an ironical situation we're living nowadays, having worldwide communication available on our computers when so many people do not simply know anymore to anymore face to face… Having the world right open from a single click when so many of us stay like stucked on their home bases. As if they were afraid of what's reputedly coming from other areas. Fear, preconceived ideas, conservatism, sectarism… fetichism ??? As many reasons belonging to each of us individually which are as many brakes in regards to progress, as if those were here nothing but the reminiscences of that famous system which has already established its power control to almost everything on a global worldwide scale. As if we couldn't live in the underground without adopting those same rules. Is it to say finally that the human being is sort of pre-programmed, unable to evolve in what to him would appear like an unknown environment ?
Raise your arms, open your eyes, look ahead… Who are we supposed to be here if not a majority of people looking outside the common rails ??? Which means, as applied to our reputed common interests, that our spectrum couldn't be limited to the sole MAW/Blaze camps in America or Cheers as shown here in France for instance. How many of you for instance haven't red this or that interview for the sole reason that you didn't know or had never heard of the one we'd decided to have answers from ??? C'mon, there's hopefully much more than the aforementioned enlighting our horizons as there's definitely much more than what's displayed on the mass media channels… Could this be that because of lovin' house music, one can't keep an ear on soul, jazz, latin, nu jazz, broken beat or even hip hop ??? C'moooooon ! That reminds me the reactions of some former boss of mine when telling me that there was no way to see what he considered as music for gays on his mag when I suggested him to cover house and garage… On the opposite way, had the same kind of negative response when suggesting to have some jazzy hip hop/R&B coverage on some other dance mag and you know what ? A quite influential guy on the electronic field here in France had nothing else as a response to me that there was no way to review anything related to what he considered as homophobic music, probably forgetting at this precise time that Mary J Blige herself was a true icon on the gay community !
Light's never come in any way when the curtains are closed. Open our eyes…
