Sometimes referred to as the second coming of house music, DJ/Producer/Remixer Quentin Harris has injected new energy and life into the music we all know and love. His musical contributions have shifted dancefloors on both sides of the Atlantic. They include JOY, TRAVELLING, LETS BE YOUNG, NOT LIKE CRAZY, CLOUD 9 and more! Once you hear a Quentin Harris record, you’ll be addicted. On the eve of his monthly NYC residency FRESH FRUIT with Steve Travolta at Cielo this Sunday, BounceFM is proud to present Quentin Harris! Here’s some of what he had to say:

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHICH TRACKS TO REMIX?
It just comes to me I don’t like doing songs that I don’t feel. I try to Re-Produce songs that other people wouldn’t touch or are different.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE REMIXERS?
They are more than just remixers to me they are great producers Martian Solvieg, Charles Webster, Alix Alvarez, Dennis F, Carl Craig. I like a lot of other producers besides the ones that I have listed here. I tend to gravitate to the ones that have some edge musically.

WHAT MUSICAL TRAINING HAVE YOU HAD?
I am a classically trained pianist I also play a slew of other instruments.

WHICH OF YOUR REMIXES ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
The Re-Productions that I am most proud of are Trina-”Joy”, Jill Scott “Not Like Crazy”.

LAST RECORD YOU BOUGHT
Nine Inch Nails-Bite The Hand That Feeds

DEFINE HOUSE MUSIC FOR THOSE THAT DON’T KNOW?
I cant really describe it, you just have just go to a house party and feel it for yourself either your going to get it or your not going to get it.

WHATS THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE MADE IN HOUSE MUSIC?
. . . People are taking house music too seriously . . .

DESCRIBE YOUR DJ STYLE
Energy, Energy, Energy. I feel its about the party and I try to play as such . . .

OVER EASY, OR SUNNY SIDE UP?
Is this some kind of a sexual question? Or is it really about how I like my eggs?

FAVORITE SMELL(S)
I’m not going to answer that one I might get myself into trouble.

You're once more damned right. Quentin which I have come to know for quite some time now has been the subject of many bad issues recently although injecting what appears to me as a rare soulful thing as compared to many others into what he's doing. not to mention the fact that he's also a fairly cool guy.
I also tend to think that house music has to be taken for what it is. A do it yourself thang, because of the lack of investments into it, although being a place where you might see more inventive people as anywhere else.
This said, people are people...
Peace,
F
