PROFILE: Antonio Ocasio - DJ/Producer/Remixer - NYC

He’s a great DJ, an excellent producer and a first class guy. His name is Antonio Ocasio and her runs the Tribal Winds record label. We first met Antonio Ocasio through DJ Lola at her NYC residency Deep See over 5 years ago. She insisted that we meet as she knew we’d get along and we’ve been friends ever since. On Friday, December 16th, Antonio performs a guest spot at DJ True’s residencey, ALMA. To familiarize you with Antonio the person, the DJ and the producer, we present this interview to you. Here’s some of what he had to say:

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A DJ SET?
. . . I've never gone out before a gig to buy the latest jams or asked people to give me music. Why would I want to do that? . . . I'm not like a lot of these other cats that play what everyone else is playing just because it's the song of the moment, or by a producer who’s favored. etc. I'm not down with that sh*t.

WHATS THE WORST MUSIC RELATED EXPERIENCE YOU EVER HAD? TELL US ABOUT IT.
In two words - MAESTRO DOCUMENTARY!

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC RELATED EXPERIENCE YOU EVER HAD? TELL US ABOUT IT.
My dealings with Jake at COUNTERPOINT Records. Aside from consistently putting out dope music he's a straight up, honest no bullshit gentleman. I can say the same for dealing with Francois K., MAW, Christos from Athens, Greece and a few other folks

WHAT NIGHTCLUB HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN YOUR HEART? WHY? - THE LOFT
Because aside from the depth of the music, it's the closest I've ever been to experiencing the feeling of family., outside of real family and in the world of music.

WHAT SEPRATES A GOOD DJ FROM A GREAT ONE?
Being able to truly connect with the dancers & music lovers via ones story telling/formatting........,

FAVORITE SMELL(S)
The Scent of a woman. Especially when you're in love with her.

WHICH OF YOUR PREVIOUS PROJECTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? AMAZONA & ALLEGRIA. Both jams did not sell the most but they are my favorites.
